Company Info is inspired by the Netherlands.  We like “NL” as the top level domain for our website, because “NL” can also stands for “New Leads”.

We weren’t always called “The Netherlands” or even “Holland”.  Originally, we were the “Dutch United Provinces” and we declared independence from Spain in 1579.

You are probably aware of the “Dutch East Indies” company, but that was the British name for the “United East Indian Company”.   We often call it by it’s Dutch name: Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie; VOC). This company grew and in the 1600s, it became a leading seafaring and commercial power, with settlements and colonies around the world.  The French ruled our land for a while, and after 20 years occupation, a Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed in 1815.

In 1830, Belgium seceded and formed a separate kingdom. The Netherlands remained neutral in World War I, but during the second World War, the Germans came in occupied the country.  Many don’t know that we are a large exporter of agricultural products. The country was a founding member of NATO and the EEC (now the EU) and was a big participant introduction of the eurodollar in 1999.

The Dutch were also colonists, and formed the Netherlands Antilles, which later dissolved.  The larger islands of Sint Maarten and Curacao joined the Netherlands and Aruba as constituent countries forming the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

You might be surprised that the “Dutch East Indies” (VOC) sent almost a million Europeans to work in the Asia trade on over 4500 ships, mostly between 1602 and 1796.  The trade brought back more than 2.5 million tons of good from Asia.  That is more people sent to Asia than the rest of Europe combined.  The English East India Company had less than 3000 ships and deliver back 1/5th of the goods.

In the 18th century, the company finally crumbled under the weight of corruption, and the Dutch Batavian Republic took over its remaining assets and debts.

Today we live in a different world.  We work online, make money online, and generate our leads online.  That’s what this website is about.  Taking the lead again, building the biggest online businesses of the 21st century.
